The Mystic Mutts of Revelry pet parade was created to help generate awareness and raise funds for The Haven No-Kill Animal Shelter's life-saving mission to end pet homelessness in Baldwin County.

The first parade was held in 2003 where approximately 50-75 dogs and their human companions strolled down the streets of beautfiul Fairhope, Alabama. We also made a decision to begin selecting a Royal Court. Our first King was Mr. Bones, a 1-2 year old pitbull terrier who was rescued after living his life outdoors tethered to a tree by a heavy chain. After months of rehabilitation, Mr. Bones found his new loving home. Let's just say he and his family thought it was fitting to honor Mr. Bones in this way to celebrate his new journey. Each year we open the Royal Court positions to the public where they can purchase a chance to enter their pooch in the contest. Last year over 600-700 canines and even more human companions registered their pets to walk in the parade - a huge increase compared to 15 years ago.
